MAJOR GROUP PROJECTS

The United Armenian Fund in California was formed from the seven major Armenian charities and churches in America. Funding through contributions in their first year was in excess of $40 million and a matching grant was given by Kirk Kikorian, the Chairman of MGM. Although their target was to provide needed medical supplies to Armenia, part of the funds were allocated to purchase desperately needed diesel oil. Pace was able to provide seven ship loads of fuel which were fully financed by Pace, who accepted deferred payment terms on the amount of cargo which was safely delivered to Airum/Yerevan. The venture was completely successful for both parties and was performed at the height of hostilities in the area.

The Armenian Church in New York had been sending foodstuffs to Yerevan via a Russian seaport, then airlifting to Armenia by charter aircraft. Pace committed to transport as significant savings frozen butter via special refrigerator vessels to Poti, Georgia followed by transshipment to rail via special refrigerator wagons for ultimate delivery to Armenia. Pace was able to reduce the overall transportation cost by fifty percent and delivered approximately 14,000 of frozen butter safely to the receivers. This successful endeavor opened a new cost efficient route which is still being utilized today.

Tubos De Acero De Mexico (TAMSA), S.A. was faced with high transportation costs due to the lack of efficiency in the Vera Cruz port and the infrequency of liner vessels calling in Mexico. Paragon was able to introduce the transshipment of pipes to Houston and handle the onward carriage to final destination with a through bill of lading. This service included the occasional use of LASH barges, as well as, conventional liner vessels, resulting in significantly reduced freight costs for the client. TAMSA later awarded a European contract to Paragon allowing the carrier full control of the ocean and inland freight.

Procarsa, S.A. de C.V., a pipe manufacturer in Monterey had the opportunity to sell two ship loads of pipe to Petrobras in Brazil. Paragon provided the logistic expertise to move the raw pipe from Monterey to a coating factory in Houston.

Once the processing was been finished, Paragon trucked the pipe from the coating factory to the port of Houston and later provided the ocean transportation to Fortaleza, Brazil. After discharging the cargo under supervision of our port captains, Paragon arranged further inland transportation to a site in north east Brazil which was used as a staging area. The receivers were delighted with the results, reporting virtually no damage, no missing pieces, and the arrival at the staging area was ahead of schedule. The entire movement from Mexico to Brazil was financed by Paragon.
